Scale

The film tells the story of life in Norilsk — one of the northernmost and harshest cities in the world. In the permafrost and amid major metallurgical plants, locals forge a distinctive character and find the strength to live where it seems impossible. We presented stories from their lives in a fundamentally new format of interactive documentary cinema.

My Role

I was responsible for developing the creative concept as part of an interdisciplinary team that brought together the best Russian directors and cinematographers, including Alexander Rastorguev and Pavel Kostomarov. Together we sought to go beyond the traditional documentary format and create a fundamentally new type of storytelling.

The work included building a nonlinear dramaturgical structure that allowed viewers to explore the material on their own, moving between episodes and choosing their own path through the stories presented.

Result

The project became a breakthrough in interactive documentary filmmaking, earning recognition from leading international platforms and juries. NORILSKFILM.com won prestigious awards and set new standards for digital storytelling, proving that deep emotional impact is possible through interactive formats.
